Content Creator

Role summary

Love dogs, hate micromanagers and make the funniest content in your friendship group? You could be just the person we’re looking for.

We’re Scratch — Australia’s most trusted dog food brand — and we’re looking for a damn good Content Creator who can turn dog moments into social gold.

Your main game? Shooting lo-fi video and cutting together high-performing videos for paid and organic social.

You’ll work alongside a copywriter, CD, designer and creative strategist - basically a bunch of legends that love dogs and love making amazing content. We’re just missing you to help us do it better!

If you love picking up and iPhone and trying lots of different shots, appreciate the hell out of a good hook and are as equally comfortable jumping into Capcut or Premiere, you’ll go along way to nailing this. The ideal creator for us doesn’t often get stuck in their head, but equally doesn’t run around like a headless chook. They just love to create. And love to see it released out into the world with minimum fuss.

The content you make will be a mix of paid ads and organic social — from shareable reels that tap into the minds of dog owners to regular behind-the-scenes snippets with our office dogs.

This isn’t a role for someone who wants to just “ideate” all day. We need a doer. Always creating. Always editing. Always posting. It’s not a frantic place to work but your colleagues value writing great briefs to make your work life easier and let the creativity flow. Lazy people don’t enjoy it here. Lazy dogs do.

THE DEETS:
The role:
We’re all about creativity without the corporate fluff. This isn’t an entry-level gig; you’ll have plenty of freedom to flex your skills and show initiative, with support when you need it.

You don’t have to be a cinematographer—what we need is someone with solid experience in creating short form video for another brand, agency or even your own channel and a good handle on what’s interesting on IG and TikTok.

An all-rounder who can brainstorm fresh ideas, shoot and edit lo-fi videos, and understand a social content calendar. You should be a pro at turning dog stories and health tips into engaging, fun content for our socials, website, and ads.

We’re not chasing perfection — we’re chasing effectiveness. Your work should perform and feel Scratch. But you’re the creator, so we’re so keen for you to get original and bring it out in new, engaging ways too.

We’ve got a team of customer service legends who take care of community management so this role is all about the content side. And we’ve got an in-house studio set up for you to use as you please at our “Dogs HQ” in Abbotsford, Melb.

You’ll be responsible for:
- Bringing the fun out of dogs and Scratch
- Shooting lo-fi content: Capture and edit authentic video that feels native to social — not overproduced.
- Producing paid social ads that work from great briefs: Cut, edit, and iterate on videos for Meta and other platforms, optimising for performance.
- Mining the library: Pulling together fresh ads from our existing footage bank, remixing and testing to keep performance strong.
- Sprint with us: lead regular shoot days to stock up on raw, lo-fi footage you can keep working with across ads and organic.
- Staying quick: edit fast, spot opportunities, shoot on the fly, and turn them around before the trend (or the moment) goes cold.
- Keeping socials trucking: Making sure our Instagram and TikTok are a joyful, chaotic-good corner of the internet.
- Bringing fresh ideas: Working with our Copywriter and Creative Strategist to develop ideas, pitch them and bring them to life.

The ideal person:
- A lover of dogs
- A social-first video creator who knows what works on Meta ads and organic platforms.
- Experienced at editing fast and tight (Premiere, After Effects, CapCut, the newest AI tool or whatever gets it done).
- Obsessed with what makes people stop scrolling and click.
- Hands-on with a camera, happy to direct dogs, people, and teammates when you need footage. Or to jump in the frame yourself.
- Experienced (3+ years ideally) in brand-side, agency or personal content creation.
- Self-sufficient — you don’t need a storyboard to make something happen.
- Comfortable juggling a mix of paid ads, organic content, and quick-turnaround requests.
- Collaborative, open to feedback, and always curious about how your work performs.
- You’ve got great attention to detail but know when “good enough” is actually great.
- Strong experience with social media management and content scheduling tools (Later) is also a plus
