Junior Video Editor

Role summary

Love dogs. Hate slow renders. Get a rush from shaving two seconds off a cut?
You might be exactly who we need!

We’re looking for a fast, efficient, and capable Video Editor to help us scale Scratch — Australia’s most-trusted dog food brand — through high-performing, scroll-stopping video creative.

You’ll team up with our Head of Creative and Creative Strategist and the broader creative crew to turn footage into effective ads and content that moves the needle. Think pace, precision, and creative intuition — not endless polishing.

And you’ll be staring at the best subjects all day long – dogs!

The role:
You’ll be responsible for bringing ideas to life through video editing that cuts through. An on-the-tools role, you’ll be given great briefs to deliver a speedy, high-volume of video edits for paid and organic social (with the odd website, product or brand video thrown in too).

You’ll think holistically about how all elements come together to produce a high-impact result –from footage to titles/graphics, captions, audio and pacing. And proactively fill gaps or work with the creative team to get what you need to make great work.
We love the craft of amazing video, but this role is more focused on quick cut creative so a great work ethic and ability to understand a brief is more valuable than being the best video editor in the country. So this role might suit a hard-worker who’s early in their career and wants to contribute and learn from a high-performing team. Or it might suit a more experienced editor who takes pride in fast, reliable work.

Your main tasks will be:
- Cutting down paid ads for Meta, YouTube, and TikTok at speed
- Editing new iterations and creative tests that convert
- Creating an ongoing pipeline of highly engaging or aesthetic social media reels for our organic channels, in collaboration with our creative team
- Editing video assets for ad hoc product launches or in-house campaigns
- Turning dog footage, brand shoots, creative sprints and talking heads into bite-sized cutdowns or compelling behind-the-scenes videos
- Collaborating with our content strategist, copywriter and designer to get the hooks, ideas, words, and graphics you need to turn great ideas into finished spots fast
- Working with brand assets, graphics, and music to deliver consistent and engaging storytelling

Speed is key, but we’re not about that toxic hustle culture—just good vibes and great work. We’re not chasing perfection — we’re chasing effectiveness. Your edits should convert and feel Scratch.

We’ve got an office in Abbotsford where most of the creative team assemble a few days a week. But once you’re up and running and effective, you can also work remote to manage your workday to suit how you work best. As long as you’re a strong communicator and get the job done, you’ll do well here.

The ideal person:

Great work-ethic:
- A hands-on video editor who understands what makes a Meta ad perform — pacing, hooks, thumb-stopping openers, etc.
- Experienced at editing fast and tight (Premiere, After Effects, CapCut, the newest AI tool or whatever gets it done).
- Strong great attention to detail but knows when “good enough” is actually great
- Loves shipping work quickly and is internally motivated to push the work forward
- A natural problem solver who will proactively try and find a solution
- Autonomous and able to manage priorities and deadlines with accountability and great communication
- A team player, easy collaborator, open communicator and genuinely thoughtful person
- Able to leave their ego at home and enjoy shaping the future of Scratch
- A digital native who loves dogs, rewarding work and a great team atmosphere
- Additional experience in AI software, design or motion graphics a bonus
